In the first half, attendance in the great Paris and its region has remained at a high level despite a drop in hotel occupancy French, however much less severe than the previous year. On this last point, Francois Navarro, CEO of the Paris Ile-de-France, calls SNCF officials and invited by modulating their prices to help French customers to come to Paris.

In the first half, the panorama of tourist traffic is mixed. The first of the great Paris foreign market, the USA, recorded an increase of 3.8% of hotel arrivals (847,000). All markets, the palm of growth for the first half returns to the markets of Middle East. In 2014, breaking with its tradition, the Chinese market seems to focus on central Paris. Russia and Japan registering declines in attendance throughout. This is backlash related to the economic situation of these countries.

For Nicolas Lefebvre, DG PCVB: "The influence of the capital and its surroundings and dynamism distant markets can compensate for the effects on tourism in the crisis in Europe. This finding reinforces the actions of the Office of market direction, faithful, like the United States, Japan and Australia with high potential such as China, Southeast Asia, Latin America and the middle East. It will continue to do so in a collaborative framework reinforced with Paris Ile-de-France. "

The tourism business of the month is described as "good" by 53% of 300 professionals in the Paris tourism surveyed each month by the TRC, "average" by 39%. In August, the number of tourists in Paris Ile-de-France is more mixed: it is considered "average" by 42% of professionals surveyed by the TRC.

In fall, an impressive calendar of events is scheduled. In September, a myriad of exhibitions: "Impression, Sunrise: dawn of Impressionism" in Monet Museum; "Maya 3000 years of civilization", the largest exhibition ever maya worldwide, the Musée du Quai Branly. The week of October 25th devote modern art in Paris with three emblematic reopenings: the Picasso Museum, the LVMH foundation for contemporary art and the delivery of the first phase of the work of the Paris Mint. A month later, a major retrospective of the work of Jeff Koons, the Pompidou Centre and the Hokusai exhibition at the Grand Palais, should attract the crowds.

Tourism business side, the number of major trade shows included the planning of the second half should ensure enhanced attendance: Paris Motor Show, SIAL, Equip'hôtel ... etc. And conventions are no exception, include some of the largest events: the IEEE Visualization Conference 2014, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary, the International Conference on Image Processing - ICIP, the 89th annual meeting of the SOFCOT, etc.
